Last year over 25 local groups camped for either a few days or a week at the campsite. Children from all over Lincolnshire and beyond use the site and get great joy from it.
Fees are kept low to encourage getting children into the fresh air.
The roof of the toilet block is now in dire need of replacement and the cabin not far behind. The roofs were expected to last longer but the toilet block suffered damage during the storms which hurried its demise.
The campsite is run by Boston District Scouts and open to the majority of youth groups. The local community use the campsite for dog walking (when it is not in use) and help us with security by keeping an eye on the site.
Any and all Scout, Guide and other eligible youth groups/schools who wish to take their young people camping and teach outdoor skills benefit from using the site.
Boston District have been running the campsite for many years and maintaining as necessary. We plan to continue for many more. We have recently finished installing an accessible toilet with ramp and 12volt led automatic lighting to the block. Plans are to add similar lighting to the cabin. All appliances are lpg as we have no gas/electric on site.
We are in the process of getting quotes now but to replace the 2 roofs and have skylights in them has been estimated at around £7,000. We have a small fund for running repairs and have already started discussing other fundraising options. Unfortunately the Covid-19 outbreak has currently stopped us getting accurate quotes at present but any builders who will come will have their quotes stored by us.
