Last year over nobody camped. Children from all over Lincolnshire and beyond missed using the site and getting great joy from it.
Due to some grant funding, during the available time we’ve had, the toilet and cabin have been reroofed. This brings us to the next stages of our development plans for the site.
The cisterns have been in place since ww2 we believe. Big old cast iron units which are hard for the young people to flush and use a lot of water. We are planning to change all these and install some urinals as well so that we can use less water. Past users have also asked about showers and as our lpg boilers are capable of running these so we are also looking at either changing a couple of areas into showers inside the block or extending out the side and putting showers there.
Our volunteer team are looking at the cost of getting electricity on to the site so we may even switch to mains operated showers/lights as well.
Whatever happens, our little volunteer team have some work ahead of them and can’t wait to get back out there.
The campsite is operated by Boston District Scouts and open to the most youth groups. The local community use the campsite for dog walking (when it is not in use) and help us with security by keeping an eye on the site.
Boston District have been running the campsite for over 60 years and maintaining as necessary. We plan to continue for many more.
