We did it
On 16th July 2020 we successfully raised £260 with 10 supporters in 42 days
To re-equip and refurnish most of the original fixtures/fittings ( which were beyond repair) in the new/replacement village social club.

What is the need for your project in the community? How will your project improve local life?
The village social club was first established in 1946, and is the only community building in the village, providing the only means/facilities for social interaction, meetings of clubs/groups etc
What support do you have from the local community for your project?
the old building was demolished last year , after subsidence rendered it unsafe. A village wide consultation meeting /survey showed majority support to provide a new replacement facilty.

The entire village community, current population approx. 900

Our village has one community building, and the social club within it has existed since 1946. There is no other public-use building in the village, nor any pub. It acts as a focus for community interaction, activities & social wellbeing. The building suffered subsidence and was completely demolished last year. The new replacement building is nearing completion & handover (notwithstanding CV19 issues) expected in May. It provides the means for people to meet socially, in the lounge/bar/main hall & meeting room, for clubs/societies, dances & other social gatherings.
