 New stretch target

We must replace ageing play equipment over next 1-2 years, and, to secure grant funding for these replacements, we need to add new facilities to the Park, We've an objective to offer our community something new and help people's physical and mental well-being at the same time. Traditionally, parks and playgrounds have been local community hubs, offering an open space for leisure activities everyone could enjoy. People’s interests have changed, especially with Covid-19 forcing more home working, so the role of parks also needs to develop to stay relevant as a local community space. By installing a range of OUTDOOR FITNESS EQUIPMENT for adults we will offer a wide range of benefits for individuals, the community and enhance the park itself for visitors of varying ages.

Llanferres has ~600 individuals and the Park attracts visitors from local towns Ruthin and Mold. There are many benefits with our project:- from modernising the park; reducing obesity with its risk of disease; improving physical and mental well-being, and people’s quality of life. It will:- be available to everyone at no cost; offer opportunity for first timers; improve mental and physical well-being; allow exercise in a natural environments with sunlight (for vitamin D) unlike indoor exercise; strengthen community and interpersonal relationships; and be eco-friendly - no electricity, low maintenance, with minimal impact on the natural environment.

We enjoy full and committed support from young and old as evidenced by fund raising event 1);  and 2) a recent volunteer maintenance working party with over 40 people delivering 80+ hours of effort donated.   Independent endorsement is evidenced by multiple Green Flag awards.  We've also found that the park is already being used for exercise by several individuals using play equipment and the park paths for running.

The cost of the project is estimated just under £10,000, and is part of a bigger programme of work and further fund raising to replace some ageing play equipment and fix some infrastructure problems with pathwork and drainage system.  During the Summer of 2021 we'll be running several public consultation events including a public meeting and an online survey which we want as many people as possible to attend / take part in.

We're hoping to replicate the voting support from 2020 which helped us secure £1,000 prize and over £1,400 in donations and Gift Aid - THANK YOU in anticipation of your support!
