We did it
On 16th July 2020 we successfully raised £1,049 ( + est. £196.00 Gift Aid ) with 35 supporters in 42 days

We want to put warmth back into the heart of our community by upgrading our hall, damp proofing, insulating and kicking out the woodworm.

We would improve the additional rooms within the hall so they can be hired to local groups; replace all single glazed windows; improve the heating system; create an access to the garden.

What is the need for your project in the community? How will your project improve local life?

Llanwarne is a truly fabulous place to live but due to its isolation falls within the top 10% of deprivation when it comes to the indoor living environment and access to services. Our village hall is well used and well loved but needs work! By improving the fabric of the village hall the village hall committee want to make our community more resilient by ensuring a vital facility does not deteriorate irreparably. We are starting with damp proofing and insulation (and turfing out woodworm) - the essential start to a longer list of work aimed at improving the hall and its offer to local residents.

What support do you have from the local community for your project?

Llanwarne has a small but dynamic community which is totally behind the plans to ensure that we have a robust community facility for future generations. We have support from the Llanwarne and District Parish Council, the Llanwarne Parochial Church Council, our local Herefordshire Councillor and the residents of Llanwarne who have been regularly consulted on the needs of the building and its capacity to serve local residents.

Who will benefit from your project?

All residents of Llanwarne and District Parish Group use this hall at some point, some more regularly than others -  according to 2011 census that's 380 people - although many more benefit from the facility as this is the only village hall in a very  rural parish where residents are often isolated from services and each other.

Tell us more about your project and how it will benefit your community if you are successful.

This project is key to stemming the deterioration of the building and helping to preserve the hall as a robust facility at the heart of its community. By tackling damp and providing insulation to the hall we will enhance the integrity of the building and its ability to retain heat.
