We are a small team with a dream to turn a river island into a community campsite and water activity venue. We are passionate about this unique site on the river Soar and want to it to have the best facilities possible. Our plan is to develop the original building and open up a new toilet block. We also want to improve our jetty and provide better equipment for water-sports activities.
What we're hoping to achieve
To renovate a former Scout campsite turning it into a community campsite and water sports centre for the benefit of young people and adults in Loughbourgh. The project would renovate the existing structure and build a new toilet and shower block. The project would look to install an LPG heating and water heating system.
The project is important to advance education, in particular, but not exclusively of young persons of Loughbourgh in environmental, physical and social activities through the provision of camping, recreational, sporting and leisure facilities. Also, providing opportunities for outdoor pursuits for the whole community.
How will the funding be spent?
The funding will be used to renovate an existing hut to provide facilities for users of the site including cooking and storage facilities, as well as a social space for users. The project also looks to build a separate toilet and shower block with a sperate gas and water heating system. The total cost of the project is budgeted at £4,850. The remainder of the funding will be raised from donations, fundraising events and use from the organisation's reserves. The project will hopefully produce a high class community facility.
The cost of the project has been carefully budgeted and is based on quotes received and realistic cost estimates. Renovation and extension of Jetty: £907 Materials for new structure: £533 Internal fixtures and fittings for new structure: £1152 Internal renovations of existing structure: £1770 Safety Electrical and compliance equipment: £488
