Our Group
We are a successful Scout Group located in Pembrokeshire, serving a large catchment across 7 main settlements. Our rural location means there are limited opportunities for young people to take part in extra activities outside of school, and we provide fun activities helping young people of all abilities to develop new skills and friendships to build them towards adult life.

Benefits
We have over 70 young people who directly benefit from our activities, and we have more on a waiting list if we had the capacity and volunteers to open up more spaces. The equipment we are currently using is over 20 years old, and has proven to be an invaluable asset over that time helping over 250 people develop long lasting memories and friendships. We are looking to replace and expand with similar equipment, ensuring the benefits last for years to come.

Our Community
The Group is well supported within the local community, which is reflected in our numbers, and relationship with key stakeholders such as community councils and schools. Over the 40 years the Group has been in existence many of those living in and around our community have directly benefitted from our activities, with many being members themselves when younger.

The Project
Our existing equipment is over 20 years old, and coupled with a 40% increase in membership in recent years we really need to replace and expand our equipment to be able to continue to offer life changing experiences to young people in our community. The equipment will directly benefit our current membership of over 70 children, but it is hoped that the equipment will last to be able to provide adventure for new members over at least the next 10 years. Although we have regular fundraising activities this support would really kick-start our efforts to ensure we have equipment that is fit for purpose.

We are looking to cover the following costs to support our programme of outdoor activity and camping;

Hike tents £600

Camping gas stoves £300

Games equipment £100

Total £1000

The Coronavirus pandemic has drastically changed the way we have operated over the past few months, but we have continued to support our youngsters through a very difficult period. As some of the restrictions ease, outdoor activity, more than ever will play a fundamental role in our programme to ensure that we can restart in the safest possible way, and support the well-being of our young people as they re-adjust following the lockdown period.
