On 16th July 2020 we successfully raised £465 ( + est. £100.00 Gift Aid ) with 20 supporters in 42 days

To provide cricket net facilities to,both boys and girls from the age of 9 to 17 years as well as adults , in a 10 mile radius of Charlbury

What is the need for your project in the community? How will your project improve local life?
To engage the youth in a team sport and practice and give them a focus,especially during the long summer days. It will provide a facility under adult supervision and prevent anti-social behaviour. It may help vulnerable young people being targeted for county lines drug trafficking.

What support do you have from the local community for your project?
The community are very supportive of the project. The club has been raising funds by organising an annual ball, barbecues, annual Fireworks Night and a Beer Festival. These are all extremely well attended by the local community.

Who will benefit from your project?
All boys and girls, men and women who want to play cricket. The nets will be open to everyone in Charlbury and surrounding villages at no charge. Local schools will also be able to use the facility. In addition, the club will provide free cricket coaching. We have one of the biggest women's section in the county

Tell us more about your project and how it will benefit your community if you are successful.
The provision of the cricket nets will greatly help the community at large. Engaging the youth in a team sport helps develop self esteem, provide regular exercise, encourages teamwork, builds stronger relationships, betters communication, teaches respect and helps with time management and discipline. In addition it will draw they youth away from drugs and related crime . It will provide enjoyment and a sense of belonging to adults too.
